NLR High School-West Campus Reviews

West campus is great! I volunteer within the Social Studies department. Great leadership is the cornerstone of this school. The principal and faculty all embrace student achievement.

I would like to invite the parent who thought PTA was the only parent involvement available to contact Ms. Carol McAdams at the West Campus. She is the chairman of the parent involvement committee and has sent out numerous memos(via students) concerning all kinds of involvement for parents. Anyone can call the school and get information agout these things. They were discussed at length in the parent involvement booth at open house and in the Parent Center at the school. Parents can become as involved as they want.

I have a son who is currently in his Senior year at NLR Hight School. He is enrolled in A.P classes. He does well with the students in his classes (students interested in learning). However, I have another son who graduated in 2006. He maintained an above average GPA (only two A.P classes). The other classes were overun with lazy students. Parents are limited to volunteering for the PTA. The possibilities for improvement through parental and community involvement would be a huge benefit to the students and the staff. Mentorship, tutoring and classroom assistance would help regain some respect and discipline at this continually sinking school. We will definitely be relieved when my son finishes.

West Campus is Great! I'm a current student at West Campus. It is a wonderful experience. Sure, East Campus was great, but when you get over to West Campus, it's even better. There are so many activities and clubs to get involved in. Also, school spirit is taken to a new height once you become a Junior and a Senior. West campus really allows students to be more independent so that they can prepare for college. And, of course, North Little Rock High School is the first public school in the state of Arkansas to have the International Baccalaureate program, which I am apart of, and it's a great program. Furthermore, NLR has THE BEST drama department in the state, period; and one of the best in the region. The teachers at 'West' are committed to their students, and they take time to get to know them. It is great.
